Warming up before climbing?

Warming up before hitting the wall can seem like a chore, keeping you from what you came there to do. You have a project you've been eyeing - and you want to hit it fresh, before the warmup takes away some of you strength.

Climbing routes near you maximum level will usually involve bursts of strength, awkward positions and unusual strains. Imagine a ball of putty or clay sitting at room temperature or even in the fridge. Take it and press it into a column. Now try to bend it - what happens? Cold putty will break in two. If instead you heat it up a little, roll it around first, when you do the same exercise it'll bend not break. A similar principle applies to muscles and connective tissue. If you try to put unusual strain on them cold, they are more likely to get pulled/strained.

Moreover, you will actually climb better after doing a few easy routes and then taking 5 minutes break - try it out and compare.
